Who Pays for Hospice Care?
To begin with, availing of hospice care is relatively cheaper than being cared for in hospitals and in other assisted-living facilities because there is no need of expensive high-end technologies, therapies, and curative medicines. The families and hospice volunteers also provides most of the care to some patients.
Hospice care is paid for by Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance plans, and HMOs. For those who cannot afford hospice care, they are usually given free care out of the donations facilities get from community contributions, memorial donations, and charitable foundations.
